Horizon Exploitation Support Service

A specialist project for adults and young people currently experiencing, or at risk of, sexual or financial exploitation.

Our Horizon Exploitation Support Service provides information, advice, support and advocacy services to adults and young people in Gwent who are currently, or are at risk of, experiencing sexual or financial exploitation.

The service is open to all adults and young people regardless of the environment in which they are being exploited, for example:

  • Street-based
  • Parlours/brothels
  • Online
  • Home
  • People who have been trafficked
  • People providing telephone service

Support needs

Confidential information, support, advice and advocacy is available on a range of practical and emotional issues that adults and young people identify as needs, including:

  • Safety

  • Sexual health

  • Legal issues

  • Finance/budgeting

  • Employment/education

  • Physical health issues

  • Housing/homelessness

  • Accessing services

  • Mental health

  • Substance misuse

  • Eating disorders

  • Self harm

  • Sexual violence

  • Physical violence

  • Relationship breakdown

  • Family relationships

  • Loss

  • Emotional well-being

  • Relaxation/confidence building

Accessing Support

This service is available via drop-in, outreach and phone support to all adults and young people who are at risk of sexual / financial exploitation. This can include:

  • people in controlling relationships

  • people in poor housing/homelessness situations

  • people who are sanctioned under welfare reform

  • people living in poverty with responsibility for children

  • people with no recourse to public funds

  • people with chronic substance misuse issues

  • children leaving the care system
